Lavigne arrived in Manila Tuesday evening for her one-night concert dubbed as "Avril Lavigne: 2008 The Best Damn Tour Concert" Wednesday night, September 3 at Araneta Coliseum. “Very good… it’s been about three years since I’d been here. I was here on my last world tour and I’m happy to made it up this time again,” she said. This is the second time that Lavigne will perform to her Filipino fans after she staged her first concert last March 31st of 2005. In the interview, Lavigne eagerly said that she came back in the country to sing for her fans and supporters. “(It’s because of) the fans. It’s all about the fans last time we had a really great show here so it’s very important for me to comeback in the Philippines this time for my tour,” explains Lavigne Lavigne is positive that all her Filipino fans will enjoy her comeback concert that is totally different from her first show. “Tonight at the show I would say that the concert is a very upbeat fun concert, I have dancers this time around and playing songs from all three of my records. I picked all my favorites songs. “I feel that this show that I’m currently playing is the best show that I’ve put on as I’m more experienced…so truly fun and energetic… I’m happy to be here in Asia,” Lavigne said. The singer said that after her concert tour she will focus on her business and writing songs for her next album. Aside from singing, Lavigne is also designing for her clothing line “Abbey Dawn.” “I’m currently a designer for my clothing line called Abbey Dawn and it’s just launched in America, I plan to take it other places in the world,” she said. When asked if she will take her designs here in the Philippines, Lavigne replied: “I hope so yes. It’s a very exciting project for me and I’m very involved with the design process.” Lavigne proudly said that “Abbey Dawn’s” designs comes from her own personal style. She said that the pieces are very rock and roll, a good fit to everyone especially to her fans. “They’re really great fit it comes in denim t-shirt to tanks and skirt everything,” she said. Lavigne arrived in the country, after her controversial performance in Malaysia. It will be remembered that the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, tried to cancel or delay Lavigne’s show in their country's capital last August 29 saying that her moves and stage concert were "too sexy." But on August 21, Lavigne told MTV News that her concert would push through. A report said thousands were entertained in the Malaysian capital by the pop-rock star. For tonight’s concert, Lavigne will perform her chart-topping hits which includes -- "Grlfriend," "When Your Gone," "The Best Damn Thing," "My Happy Ending," "He Wasn't, Fall To Pieces," "Complicated," "Sk8ter Boi," "I'm With You," "Why," "Losing Grip," "Don't Tell Me," "Keep Holding On," "Let Go and "Nobody's Home." The 23-year-old Napanee, Ontario native rose to fame via "Let Go," her first full-length album, which debuted at number eight on the Billboard charts in June 2002. She co-wrote the dozen introspective songs on her albums "Under My Skin" and "The Best Damn Thing." She’s also known for her hit “Complicated.” The concert is produced by VIVA Concerts and Events with ABS-CBN and ASAP '08 as its official media partner.
