Taking Mariel seriously

{mosimage}Leave it to TV host Mariel Rodriguez to deal with serious showbiz concerns lightly.

Even in interviews, Mariel almost always injects her trademark humor and "kikay antics." No wonder, gays adore her.

Asked by reporters to comment on report that she was the reason why her "Wowowee" co-host Precious Lara Quigaman was fired from the show, Mariel replied: "Ako ang dahilan?" asked Mariel, wide-eyed and surprised. "That was my fourth out of the country stint with ‘Wowowee’ and never kami nagdala or wala kaming plus one. It was never an issue...may concert ang ‘Coverboys’ when we went to Hawaii. Meron talaga silang ibang gagawin so there was no way na may plano akong magdala ng kasama. Ayaw ni Tito Boy, ‘loko lang." She claried that there are no official rules that they cannot bring along their boyfriends in their contracts.

"Bago kami nag-Hawaii pumasok siya (Willie) sa dressing room at sinabi niya na hindi kami puwedeng magdala ng boyfriend, then sinara niya ang door. Kaya tandang-tanda ko ‘yun kasi sinara nga ‘yung door ng dressing room kaya markado yun," she recalled.

Mariel also understood if Precious thought Willie's reminder wasn’t serious because what he said seemed an "in passing."

"Doon sa interview ni Lara sa ‘The Buzz,’ naawa talaga ako and I cried. But she forgot to mention something. She did ask permission sa aming Executive Producer. Napag-usapan nila ‘yun. So hindi ko alam kung ang kasalanan ba kay Lara, o sa aming producer... mabait ang E.P. namin. Yun ang nangyari. Yun lang alam ko. Ako nga hindi ko nga alam ang gagawin ko sa buhay ko ngayon," she related.

Mariel also admitted that she saw Lara’s boyfriend because they were in the same flight going to Hawaii and back to the Philippines.

"In between hindi ko siya nakita dahil may sarili rin akong buhay di ba? Siyempre punta ako sa Hawaii nag-walking ako dun...basta when we went to Hawaii or Las Vegas never naging issue yun at wala kaming problema na ganun," explained Mariel.

Mariel admitted that she does miss Lara in "Wowowee." She said she's the nicest among them her female co-hosts. Lara, she said, is "100% more mabait" than her.

So did she console Lara when she was axed? "After a few days I texted her kung kumusta siya. She texted back that she appreciated my gesture," intimated Mariel.

Mariel is the celebrity endorser for Eezy’s Twist and Brush. Joey Espiritu of Twist and Brush said the product was made for people on the go. This was why Mariel Rodriguez was the perfect choice to be their celebrity endorser.

"Tayong mga Pinoy we find ways kung papaano natin mapapadali ang mga buhay natin. So ito mas mabilis kung artista ka and nagmamadali," said Mariel. "It is so practical to use and a must have in your bag."
