Richard’s sister, Ruffa Gutierrez, on Sunday answered in affirmative when asked by “The Buzz” co-hosts Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda if they were willing to settle the issue peacefully.
“Why not? Sino ba naman ang may gusto ng gulo? Sila naman ang nag-upload ng istorya. Sila naman ang nagsulat ng masama sa kapatid ko,” Ruffa said. The actress-television host maintained that what her brother and mother, talent manager Annabelle Rama, wanted in the first place was for PEP to clear Richard’s name. She stressed that PEP should have straightened things out by admitting that it erred when it published a story saying that Richard allegedly pointed a gun at actor Michael Flores during a fight. She pointed out that there were at least 200 people present in Zorro director Mark Reyes’ birthday party, where the incident allegedly took place, and they swore that it did not take place. She also maintained that if indeed her brother pointed a gun at Flores their parents would be the first to reprimand the “Zorro” actor. She also maintained that PEP should reprimand the one who wrote the "fabricated" story. As for PEP's alleged witnesses, Ruffa challenged the entertainment Web site to reveal their identities. Ruffa said the PEP article had damaged the reputation of Richard. “Si Richard masyadong nasaktan, para sabihan ka na barumbado na wala ka namang ginagawa. So, with Chard (Gutierrez’s nickname), he has lots of endorsements, lots of shows, all these things going on for him, malaking damage ‘yon para sa career niya,” she said. She added: “For my brother, who works so hard, para mag-imbento ng fabricated news nakakasakit sa atin ‘yon dahil inaalagaan natin ‘yong pangalan natin.” Richard is currently in the United States and he is still thinking whether to file a case or not against PEP, she said. “Sana maayos between now and the time he comes back in a week and a half. Whatever Richard decides, our family will be behind him 200 percent,” Ruffa said.
