Actress Iza Calzado is the newest leading lady of actor-senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. for his upcoming movie "Panday: Ang Simula."

In an interview with ABS-CBN News,  Revilla shared his excitement about his newest project and his new silver screen partner.

"Finally it's happening, ito na magsisimula na tayo ng shooting by next week at ang leading lady natin si Ms. Iza at karangalan ko siyang maka-trabaho," Revilla said.

In the movie, Calzado will play the character of a noble stranger who will inspire Panday or Flavio, played by Revilla, to learn how to fight.

The senator proudly said that people will love his upcoming film since it will reportedly be different from the other versions of "Panday" films.

"Abangan natin ‘yon. Basta ang masasabi ko sa inyo ay pinaghandaan natin ito... pinag-isipan at pinalaki siguradong hindi kami mapapahiya," Revilla said.

It will be recalled that "Panday" was based on the fictional comics character of the same name created by Carlo J. Caparas in March of 1979.

The comics concept was then adapted for a string of "Panday" movies, the most popular of which featured late Fernando Poe Jr., who starred in four "Panday" films.

In 1993, Revilla made his debut in the film series in "Ang Dugo ng Panday."

Revilla, who is known for his action and sci-fi films, added that "Panday: Ang Simula" will be bigger than his other movies like "Resiklo" and “Exodus."

"Palaging we have to surpass yong last na nagawa natin," he added.
Other stars included in the film are Rhian Ramos, Geoff Eigenmann and Philip Salvador.

"Panday", set to hit theaters in December, is also an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2009.
