Actress Mickey Ferriols and actor-comedian Archie Alemania, her long-time partner, have decided to end their almost five-year relationship.

In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, Ferriols said their separation is a mutual decision and that she and Alemania remain friends.

“Siguro hindi lang kami talaga para sa isa’t isa. So, ganoon ‘yong nangyari. Pero maayos ‘yong pag-uusap namin, so, okay lang, we are friends,” Ferriols said.

Ferriols refused to give further details about the separation. This development came amid reports that the two are planning to tie the knot next year.

Ferriols and Alemania have a four-year-old son named Marcus Brent.

Ferriols also admitted that she once considered quitting show business to be able to spend more time with her family but she was then dissuaded by her talent manager.  The actress was grateful that her plan did not push through.

She added that she needs to work doubly hard now, especially since Marcus is about to start his schooling in June.

Currently, Ferriols is busy taping for ABS-CBN’s adaptation of hit Korean telenovela “Lovers in Paris” with Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion and another television show. Ferriols is also hosting ANC’s “Kuwentong Disyerto.”

The actress is also not disheartened by her experience. She said she is not closing her doors to new love. Like her friend, actress Judy Ann Santos, she added that she hopes to walk down the aisle someday when she finally meets her Mr. Right.

Right now though, Ferriols is focusing her time on her son, small business and work.

“I will take it one day at a time (and) I’m not in hurry,” she said.

Meanwhile, when asked about her Mother’s Day plan, the actress said: “I will celebrate [Mother’s Day] with my son. Alam mo mababaw lang kaligayahan ng anak ko. Kahit na kakain lang kami ng ice cream sa isang resto kasama ang family ko o kaming dalawa lang, he really enjoys that.”
