MANILA, Philippines – John Lloyd Cruz has “voluntarily” returned to the Philippines after being barred by airport authorities in Japan from entering the country, the young actor’s camp confirmed. “True daw. [Nag]-volunteer siyang umuwi kasi akala nila kasama siya sa Martin show,” Cruz' road manager said in a text message sent to ABS-CBN News. The road manager was referring to Martin Nievera and Nikki Gil's show there. Cruz reportedly flew to Japan on a tourist visa on December 12. The Philippine Star reported that Cruz was brought to the immigration office at the Narita International Airport upon his arrival to question him regarding the purpose of his travel to Japan. Cruz reportedly said he went there for a vacation, but the airport authorities were purportedly not convinced. Quoting unidentified sources, The Philippine Star said Cruz stayed at the airport and was deported back to the Philippines the following day. He arrived Sunday afternoon at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport where he was greeted by his fans, the report added. The road manager said the actor eventually returned to Japan. "Since hindi naman void ang visa, lumipad siya pabalik the next day. Nandoon pa sila now." Cruz is expected to clarify the issue once he flies back to Manila. Tags: John Lloyd Cruz
