{mosimage}Nowadays, a business contract can put a cramp on your sex life. It can also impose a lockdown on your uterus.

International Filipina star Lea Salonga has told ABS-CBN News: "I can't do it even if i wanted to, the factory is closed unfortunately, but that would give me time to bond with Nicole (Nicole Beverly, her two-year-old daughter)." The reason for the uterine lockdown is Salonga's various commitments to perform for various productions here and abroad, particularly in the musical "Cinderella" where she plays the lead role. She is under contract to do the musical until 2009.

All in all, her commitments to these performances bar her from getting pregnant for the next two years. Still she said she has no regrets putting career over having another baby.

She said that she's having the best time of her life. "When I got married and when I had a child, nothing compares to it. The best age really is now in my thirties."

And to celebrate that life, Salonga will perform for "Lea: My Life Onstage" a special concert on May 23 and 24 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

The concert brings audiences to a nostalgic trip through time, enjoying the musical highlights of Salonga's career beginning 1978 until the present.

Salonga said that the concert is the performance and musical equivalent of a memoir. She said that she considered writing a memoir but then thought that audiences expect her to perform, not write.

Her brother Gerard will be the musical director for the show, with the FilHarmonika musicians backing her up.

She said that she's thankful that audiences are still supporting her performances.

"Paiba-iba ang uso (So many trends come and go). I am glad I have not become irrelevant."

Salonga distinguished herself internationally when she played the lead role in the West End (later Broadway) musical "Miss Saigon" in 1989. This launched her subsequent international career, which includes more performances on Broadway, starring as the singing voice for Disney films, and even Hollywood movies.

For her outstanding performances, Salonga won several awards for theater, including the pretigious Laurence Olivier Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical for the 1989/1990 season. This was followed by a Tony Award as well as awards from the Drama Desk and the Outer Critics Circle.
