After a bitter separation years ago and much publicized spat, Concert Queen Pops Fernandez said she and estranged husband Martin Nievera are now keeping in touch more regularly than before.

"It's better. We talk more often, mas open kami sa isa’t isa. As a matter of fact, you know every so often, we check on each other.  Mayroon kaming moment na tsini-check niya ako tsini- check ko siya, kung okay siya, kung happy siya.  Ganoon din siya sa akin," the singer said.

She said their relationship has improved since they began communicating more regularly. She said their current relationship is in a “very good amicable position.”

Fernandez and Nievera, dubbed as the country’s concert king, have been separated for almost a decade now. They have two sons – Robin and Ram.

Fernandez is now dating actor Jomari Yllana while Nievera’s non-celebrity girlfriend is Katrina Ojeda. Nievera and Ojeda have a son, Santino.

Two years ago, the former couple were involved in a verbal tussle after Ojeda reportedly referred to Robin and Ram as "monkeys." Past issues between them also resurfaced when Fernandez revealed to "Yes" magazine the events that led to their separation. Fernandez's no-holds-barred account had caught the ire of Nievera.

Fernandez disclosed that people would still ask him if she still loved Nievera. She said she would reply: “I will always love Martin and he will always be very special in my heart."

On February 6, the two singers are set to do a reunion concert at the Araneta Coliseum.  Yllana is producing the concert.
