Aside from having to work over the Christmas Season because she is one of the hosts of the daily morning program Umagang Kay Ganda, Rica Peralejo said that the holiday season has been sad for her because some members of her family are away from home.

"Siguro kami for the past few Christmases, medyo malungkot siya than the usual namin," Rica explained. "Kasi we're a big family, eh. Anim kaming magkakapatid, eh wala na 'yung first three. Pabawas kami nang pabawas." The host actress said that her older siblings have been based in the United States and were not able to go back home in time for Christmas. She even shared that as the years go by, more and more of her family members are going abroad to join the rest. "This year is the first year na kalahati talaga are in the US tapos kalahati andito." The actress said that since they are fewer now, Christmas has become lonely and boring.

Meantime, Rica has assumed the responsibility of watching over her nephews and nieces, whose parents are in the US and shared that she usually spends time with them doing a lot of activities, and treats them like her kabarkada. To compensate for the absence of their loved ones, Rica and the rest of her relatives here usually go out and have fun to perk up their holiday celebration. More important than just having a good time, these activities bond her closer to her sibling's kids. "'Yun 'yung masarap lang. When you grow up with the kids of your brothers and sisters. talagang nakikita mong (lumaki), para kayong magbabarkada lang," the actress explained. Rica is hoping however, that next Christmas, her family would be complete. "That's our wish for next Christmas. Na sana either they can come here or we can go there."
