America’s hit reality game show “I Survived a Japanese Game Show” hosted by Tony Sano has graced Philippine television screens after its premiere on Studio 23 on Sunday, September 21st.

In a phone interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, the show's host/ interpreter Tony Sano shared that the fun-filled show will really tickle the funny bones of the Filipino audience.

"Well it’s a lot of fun. It’s definitely something very unique that the American [and the Filipino] audience has never seen before. It’s really a fun show, different cultures colliding and they are great contestants. They are fun to watch," Sano said.
The host said that contestants for “I Survived a Japanese Game Show" were all unknowing Americans that were put into an amazing journey.

"They are from all over the country... one girl from New York, from Texas... and yeah I was actually very surprised myself that they were so clueless, in the dark about what’s gonna happen. They really didn’t know that they were going to Japan... all they know is that they will be on a reality show,”  Sano said.

In Japan, the contestants find out that they will compete in the ultimate Japanese style game show to win US$250,000. Sano said the challenges are physically demanding and really tough to do. A sample of the game is catching and eating the mochi balls placed on helmets of fellow contestants who are running on a treadmill.

"Definitely a lot of Velcro suits, there’s a lot of trampolines, there’s a lot of treadmills," Sano added.

Aside from winning the cash prize, the contestants are also motivated to bag the competition so they can stay longer and experience Japan. Once they get eliminated the contestant will be sent home.

"So each week we eliminate one person, so everyone really wants to win because they are excited about the things in Japan, to see more of Japan, great stuff and surprises," Sano said.

Sano said that like any other reality show, “I Survived a Japanese Game Show” will also showcase the survivor elements of the contestants.

The host said that aside from seeing crazy and funny things on the show, the audience can also learn many things from it. He said that the show encourages people to step out of their normal routine, visit other countries, and appreciate and accept cultures completely different from their own.

"I like the element where I could get to see these people interacting with real Japanese people and embracing a new culture. I think that’s the best part of the show.  There’s a lot of comedic moments out of that, it's funny. But there are also beautiful moments watching the person, finding themselves, find something in another new culture that they appreciate, that they love," said Sano.

Before the interview ended Sano invited Filipino viewers to watch his show. He hopes Filipinos will enjoy the newest reality game show now airing on Studio 23.

“I'm very excited that the Filipinos will be able to watch the show. I hope that they will really love it, I think they will like it. I said there’s great characters that we've got and it’s just a lot of fun stuff. Hope they will enjoy," he ended.
