MANILA, Philippines - Young actor Rayver Cruz has belied reports that he and Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo have split up.

Cruz maintained that he and Geronimo were never a couple.

"Hindi dumating sa punto na naging kami at hindi din dumating sa punto na talagang nanligaw ako. So, malabong maging kami," he told “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon.”

The actor laughed off the rumors when told about them. “Paano kami magbi-break, hindi naman kami? Kasi friends lang talaga kami ni Sarah. Nakakatawa lang kasi pinangungunahan ng iba na kami at nag-break na. Hindi pwedeng mag-break kami."

Cruz also defended Geronimo and her mom, Divine, from speculations that the singer's strict parent was to be blamed for the purported break-up. He noted that parents are normally overprotective of their children.

"Sa case ni Sarah, siyempre aalamin ko muna kung sino ang po-porma sa anak ko, hindi ba?" Cruz said. "Busy siya (Geronimo) at alam naman natin na hindi pa siya pwedeng [magka-boyfriend] kaya respetuhin na lang natin."

In her separate interview, Geronimo also shot down the speculations.

Echoing Cruz’s statement, the singer said: "Paano naman mangyayari ‘yong magbi-break kami na hindi naman naging kami?"

"Nag-aaral pa ako at may career pa ako. Basta kami ni Rayver ay magkaibigan at lahat ng kaibigan ko ay espesyal sa puso ko,” she added.
