Sunday, the last day of the week and an indication that it is time to send home another Idol aspirant and bid goodbye to their dream of becoming the very first Pinoy Idol. As usual, a packed Centerstage at the SM Mall of Asia witnessed the event and got emotional when Raymond Gutierrez announced who gets to go home this week. “Philippines, let us all say goodbye to Penelope,” declared Raymond onstage. And though Penelope was kind of expecting it, judging from the comments she got from her performance the night before, she was still devastated when Raymond announced the bad news. Tears started rolling and she could barely sing her farewell song, Weak, as her voice kept on cracking as she tried to compose herself. But when she saw judges Ogie Alcasid and Jolina Magdangal clapping and giving her a standing ovation, the 16-year-old’s control broke and tears came not just from Penelope but from her co-contestants and her fans as well. A lass with a golden voice and a bright future in singing, Penelope will surely be seen again by her fans on television--just like Robbie Navarro, Toffer Rei, Sue Ellen, Mae Flores, Jeni Rawolle, JJ Jr., Carol Leus, Meryl David, Elliot Andal, Bev Ejercito, Rye Estrada, Sherwin Marquez, Regene Ong, Dio Paolo, Drizzle Muniz, Vren Villaflor and Walton Zerrudo who have all ended their Idol journey but are still continuing their dreams of making it big in the singing arena. Meanwhile, the Idol contestants are now down to six and the stage is set for another performance night on Saturday as the legendary Basil Valdez shares his secrets with Warren Antig, Kid Camaya, Ram Chaves, Daryl Celis, Gretchen Espina and Jayann Bautista.
