Business Unit Head Lauren Dyogi broached to Endemol the need for a male host for the second season of Pinoy Dream Academy during a business meeting abroad. He saw the name of Billy Crawford in the list of guests in Star Academy, the equivalent of Pinoy Dream Academy in France, and suggested him. Endemol contacted Billy’s management company in the US, YPMP, and the two parties closed the deal. Theoretically speaking, Billy did not have anything to do with the negotiation. That is why he was not able to tell mentor German Moreno and ex-manager Raul Laurente. Even before he could talk to them, vested interests in the local entertainment press had done its demolition job. By the way, Billy will do Pinoy Dream Academy Uberture on weekdays at 5:30 p.m. when it opens on June 14. He will also appear on Performance Night every Saturday with Toni Gonzaga and Nikki Gil

I’m very nervous. I lost my passport even before I got on the plane.

Do you have a say on the projects you will do?

I have options, I have ideas. Puwede naman akong magsalita. Pero, of course, business is business, personal is personal.

Reports state German Moreno and Raul Laurente are hurt with your transfer. Your comment please.

I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. I haven’t talked to Kuya Germs or Tito Raul at all and I’d rather deal with them personally, talk to them face to face. Kuya Germs has always been and will always be a father to me. Si Tito Raul naman, I’ve known him since I was 5 years old. Parang magulang ko sila na hindi ako pinapayagan before to act on my own, then I grew up and I have to make my own decisions. I honestly want them to be proud of me. When Endemol told me I’ll be hosting Pinoy Dream Academy, which is like Star Academy in France, I know it’s a great show and I’d like to be a part of it. It’s the biggest show now in France and I guested there once, then they asked me to teach choreography to their scholars.

Is it true you were offered a show after Move?

That’s true. But I wasn’t available as I have to go back to the States to record a new album. When Endemol offered Pinoy Dream Academy to me, I was free na kaya I can do it now. Right after this, I have to go to France to promote my new album, followed by the U.S.

What do you think of the accusation you have no utang na loob?

Utang na loob, siyempre, is very important. Pagdating sa utang na loob, maraming questions na...It’s a very hard question. It’s like “I give you my hand, you’ll give me mine.” Utang na loob is very deep. I’ve given my everything at respeto rin ay importante.

You were quoted by a TV reporter of not wanting to talk to Kuya Germs (Moreno). What’s your comment?

I never said that.

Are you a loyal person?

I’m loyal to my job... I’m loyal to my passion... I’m loyal to people who love me no matter what.”

Are you willing to work with KC and court her again?

I haven’t seen KC for a long time and I never said I courted her or that I’ll court her. It’d be nice if we’d get the chance to work together but it’s all up to ABS.
