GMA-7's hit reality musical show "Celebrity Duets" returns on Saturday for another serving of fun and non-stop singing.
In its second season, a new batch of A-list celebrities from outside the music industry discovers and develops their singing prowess in this one of a kind entertaining show. Last Wednesday, the show officially revealed this season's complete list of contenders.
They are: Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Bayani Fernando, beauty expert Cory Quirino, comedian-turned-politician Joey Marquez and his sister beauty queen cum supermodel Melanie Marquez, QTV's "Ka-Toque" co-host and chef JL Cang, former Bb. Pilipinas-World Carlene Aguilar, Fil-British professional soccer player Phil Younghusband, and fashion designer JC Buendia.
Still hosted by Asia's songbird Regine Velasquez and singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, "Celebrity Duets" follows the eventful lives of these celebrity contestants as they are trained and transformed into being the next musical sensations.
Each week, a celebrity will be paired with an established singer to train and to guide them from their choice of song to their actual duet in front of a panel of judges and a live studio audience.
This season's panel of judges includes multi-awarded playwright and concert director Freddie Santos, renowned composer and arranger Danny Tan, and all around social butterfly and Celebrity Duets' first grand winner Tessa Prieto-Valdes.
The three would assist and influence the viewing public as to who deserves their text votes, which is the only basis to win the contest.
The winner will get to choose a charity of his or her choice to which he or she will donate in whole or in part the P1 million grand prize.
"Celebrity Duets" promises to be even bigger and brighter with an added twist of originality to Fremantle's version of the show.
It airs every Saturday after "Pinoy Records" on GMA-7.
