Heading the grand kick-off for this season were hosts Toni Gonzaga, Nikki Gil, and Billy Crawford plus the Dream Mentors composed of Headmaster Ryan Cayabyab, Media Performance Mentor Joey Reyes, Over-all Voice Mentor Kitchy Molina, and Voice Mentor Monet Silvestre. The 25 Dreamers who managed to get through the rigorous final casting aired from June 9 to 13 via The Dream BIGins on Primetime Bida were presented during the explosive opening number. Moments later, Headmaster Ryan Cayabyab revealed the Top 15 Scholars who were given the opportunity to enter the Academy. Among the 15 talented Scholars are "Cancer Survivor" Hansen Nichols, "Stand-up Comic" Michelle Belmonte, "Farmer's Son" Jay Bogayan, "Teen Heartthrob" Van Pojas, "Stylist's Son" Ross Dio, "Singing Interior Designer" Cris Pastor, "Romantic Crooner" Miguel Mendoza, "Sweet Chanteuse" Bea Muñoz, "Student Husband" Chivas Malunda, "Pride of Puerto Galera" Zel Garcia, "Different Couple's Daughter" Apple Abarquez, "Small Boy Wonder" Christian Alvear, "Teacher Wife" Bunny Malunda, "Stage Performer" Iñaki Ting, and "Independent Woman" Laarni Losala. Shortly after the announcement of the Top 15 Scholars, the Headmaster divulged two important twists. First, Voice Mentor Monet Silvestre will join the Scholars in the Academy for the succeeding months as an in-house teacher who would look after them and enforce discipline when needed. Second, four of the remaining Dreamers will compete for the 16th slot left empty by the withdrawal of Consuelo Osorio from the competition. Hera Redoblado, Ranjit Singh, Poy Palma, and Lambert Reyes were the four Dreamers who got the highest scores after the Top 15, hence they were given the chance to perform and battle it out through a 24-hour text voting. The result of the text voting was revealed Sunday night via the PDA live special hosted by Nikki Gil. Headmaster Ryan Cayabyab announced who among the four was chosen by the public to enter the Academy. Videojock Ranjit "Jet" Singh clinched the 16th slot with an overwhelming 51.70% of the text votes. Lambert came in second with 20.16% while Poy only got 17.46% and Hera, 10.68%. Jet is now in the Academy with the other 15. Now that the Top 16 is complete, what will take place in the Academy? What will the 16 Scholars' lessons with their Mentors be like? How will they handle the stresses and pressures of the competition? Stay tuned from Monday through Friday to Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Uberture, 5:30 PM, and Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Primetime, after My Girl on ABS-CBN to find out.
