In line with midterms pressure, the Scholars’ 8th Gala Night was themed as Mentors’ Choice Night. Since no one could recognize the Scholars’ improvements better than the Dream Mentors themselves could, their teachers were given the privilege to choose their songs for Saturday night. It was indeed a great challenge for all the Scholars, but surprisingly they were able to surpass it with flying colors under the critical observation of Louie Ocampo, Leah Navarro and Jim Paredes, this week’s panel of jurors.

Praises overpowered criticisms on the Scholars’ performances. Aside from the Scholars’ individual presentations, the Poy and Bugoy tandem on the song Magkasuyo Buong Gabi swept the jurors off their feet. They said that it was certainly a good duet since their presence was very effective, as well as their harmony.

Saturday night was without a doubt Bugoy’s night. Aside from gathering commendation the whole night, he was also able to take hold of this week’s Star Scholar title after gaining a final score of 9.60 for his impressive version of George Michel’s As. Joining him in the top three were Honorary Scholar Poy and last week’s Star Scholar Liezel. Though Liezel failed to defend her Star Scholar title, she still shone to be the best after being announced as the highest midterm exam pointer. She got an average of 9.10 percent on her four midterm examinations, thus awarding her the privilege of being exempted from this week’s probation. On the other hand, the Scholar who got the lowest grade and an automatic probation was Bunny. Together with Bunny in the Bottom Four were Sen, and two of last week’s probationary Scholars, Laarni and Miguel.

Unfortunately, the time for the Different Couples’ Daughter to go back home finally arrived as she performed her last song in the Performance Hall as a Scholar. Though Apple was able to execute her rendition of Sweet Love quite smoothly, she was only able to 13.30 percent of the total text votes. With 72.74 percent of total text votes at hand, Laarni got the majority of the votes, while Miguel garnered the remaining 13.96 percent.

Since Bunny also failed to be part of the Top Three, she was also denied of the possibility to be saved by the Mentors and her co-Scholars. Who among Sen, Laarni and Miguel will join Bunny on this week’s probation?
